About 90 percent of dogs end up in some type of shelter, and only about 10 percent are fortunate enough to find a loving home where they live their entire lives. Unfortunately, many others spend their days in shelters or rescues, often being transferred from place to place.
Most rescue organizations rely on donations to survive, and the dedicated people working there are often volunteers, as funds are too limited to pay staff. Many dog rescues, including Saint Bernard Rescue Group, struggle to stay afloat, operating on a month-to-month or even week-to-week basis.
